Russia’s Pacific Fleet has received the Project 971 (Akula-class) nuclear-powered submarine Kuzbass (K-419) that underwent repairs at the Zvezda Shipyard in the Primorye Territory in the Russian Far East, the regional administration said on Monday. The nuclear-powered submarine Kuzbass is armed with missiles and torpedoes.

Indian Navy Deploys P-8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft to Seychelles for EEZ Surveillance
 
The Indian Navy has deployed a P 8I maritime reconnaissance aircraft to Seychelles since 20 Mar 16, for surveillance in the Exclusive Economic Zone of Seychelles, in accordance with the MoU between the Governments of India and Seychelles. The Indian Navy has, in the past, undertaken surveillance missions in the Seychellois EEZ twice a year, by deploying IN ships. The last such deployment was undertaken by ships of the 1st Training Squadron of the Indian Navy, in Oct 15. This is the first time that the P8I aircraft has been deployed to Seychelles.

USS Hartford (SSN 768) from Groton, Connecticut, and USS Hampton (SSN 767) from San Diego will conduct multiple arctic transits, a North Pole surfacing, scientific data collection and other training evolutions during their time in the region.

Kelvin Hughes to supply 60+ SharpEye radars for UK Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary
 
The UK MOD announced that over the next five years, the MOD’s Navigation Radar Programme will replace existing radars fitted across the Royal Navy fleet and shore facilities with solid-state SharpEye™ radar transceivers designed and developed in the UK by Kelvin Hughes in Enfield North London. The new radars are the result of a £44 million contract award by the Ministry of Defence.

Astute Class submarine HMS Artful has officially become a Commissioned Warship of the Royal Navy at a ceremony at HM Naval Base Clyde on March 18 2016. Guest of honour at the ceremony was the submarine's sponsor Lady Zambellas, who had named Artful in September 2013, before her launch in May 2014, in Barrow in Furness.

The Russian Navy is planning to receive the Project 22350 lead frigate Admiral Gorshkov in late 2016, Navy Deputy Commander-in-Chief Vice-Admiral Alexander Fedotenkov said on Friday. When asked about whether the frigate would be delivered to the Russian Navy in December, Fedotenkov said: "Yes, of course."

L-3 Communications announced today that it has received an initial contract from General Dynamics Bath Iron Works to deliver its innovative Power Node Control Center® (PNCC) to support the U.S. Navy’s Destroyer Program. Funded delivery orders are currently in process, with the first production units scheduled for delivery in December 2017. Eight PNCC units will be initially installed on each DDG 51, beginning with DDGs 121 and 122.

MBDA has successfully completed two Mistral firings using a SIMBAD-RC firing post. These trials represent the last technical milestone before delivery to its first customer. They served to validate the interface between the missile and the new twin-launcher , confirming the correct departure of the missile from the firing post, as well as the system's ability to carry out salvo firings.

The event which took place March 16 2016 as Charles de Gaulle was coming back to Toulon naval base from its deployment in the Middle East marks the end of an era for the SEM.

Dixmude is the first of the mistral class to receive the weapon upgrade.

Japan Coast Guard orders additional Airbus H225 helicopter for SAR missions
 
Airbus Helicopters has signed a contract with Japan Coast Guard (JCG) for the purchase of an additional H225. JCG, which already operates five H225s, has ordered this additional aircraft as part of its fleet renewal plans. The helicopter is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2018.
